ArtMind.tld Class Mission Statement: The goal of these classes is to build and to become a safe environment in expressing yourself and process emotions through alternative methods. We will use art to visually convey a message that may be challenging otherwise to put into words. My hope is that you will gain tools and resources to move forward in your journey.

Intro To Art Recovery

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will receive a packet about Art Recovery. Class will do introductions before reading packet. Class Will be able to ask questions and make suggestions about what they would like to see or get out of sessions.

Character Representation

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will create a character based off how they perceive themselves. Class may do this by writing a short story, creating a comic/ storyboard, or drawing. Class will reveal and discuss what they have created or written.

Our Deepest Fear

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will read “Our Deepest Fear” poem by Marianne Willamson, before engaging into a discussion. Class will learn about types of poetry before taking time to write their own poem or short story based on their own fears.

Short-Term Goal Vision Board

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will create a vision board focusing on Short-Term Goals using various types of materials and mediums.

Self-Discovery Portrait

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will take picture of themselves and paint or draw a self-portrait. Class will also have the option to write an entry based off photo if they do not wish to paint or draw.

Comfort In Chaos

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will watch a video on the science of early childhood development. Class will then split up into 2-3 groups. Each smaller group will receive materials and directions to playing The Brain Architecture Game.

Creating A Travel Self-Care Kit

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will discuss what self-care is and ways to create a sense of safety or cope when in public. Class will create an affirmation booklet. Class will be supplied with supplies/ items to place in a travel kit.

Memory Box

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will create and decorate a box where they may store intrusive/ troublesome thoughts memories, negative self-talk, and or feelings.

Overcoming Setbacks

Facilitator Teneshia La’Rae D.

Class will talk about the challenges they
currently face when having a setback. Group will list, write, or convey through creating an image of those challenges vs how they will process and overcome their experiences. Class will discuss and create a safety plan.
